Activities

From the beginning, twinship contacts have taken place on several levels.

Delegations of citizens of both towns, who are always hosted privately by club
members in the twinned towns. In this way, many private contacts have been
established.
Contacts between the twinned towns provided by the club (e.g. for a visit by a
delegation of the Ludwigsburg Women�s Forum to St. Charles/Missouri in May 1998).

School exchange programs
School exchange programs, which began even before the club was founded, with a
general exchange of all Ludwigsburg High Schools and Duchesne High School, Easter 1996.
Now, school exchanges take place regularly on a fixed pattern:

Mörike Gymnasium	St. Charles High School
Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium	St. Charles West High School
Goethe-Gymnasium	Lutheran High School Orchard Farm High School

So far, about 600 German students and about 400 American students
have taken part in the various exchange programs.
The uneven number is due to the fact that only about 300 students in St. Charles/Missouri take German as a subject,
and the programs are not organized on strictly reciprocal lines.
From the year 2000, the exchange programs have been open to students who do not take German.
So far, only High Schools have been involved in the exchange,
simply because we wanted to use our initial contacts immediately.
Of course, our aim is to expand the exchange to all kinds of schools, but that takes time.
Altogether, the school exchange programs and particularly the number of students taking part,
have developed and stabilized beyond our expectations.
